EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II

Due to retirement, Scotts Bluff County Road & Bridge Department is hiring an Equipment Operator II. This position combines skilled work in the operation of heavy road construction and maintenance equipment and general labor and maintenance work.

Work involves responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of heavy construction equipment.  This class is distinguished from classes at a lower level in that employees in the class must operate such equipment as motor graders, tandem axle trucks and backhoes as a regular assignment, a minimum of 50% of working time. Employees may perform general laboring duties on a variety of construction type activities as well as manual road maintenance activities.  Work is reviewed by an administrative superior who assigns and may inspect work in progress or upon completion. Starting wage $20.05.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; heavy equipment experience, possession of a valid Nebraska driver’s license with CDL Class B endorsement.

Must pass background check and DOT drug & alcohol screening. This position qualifies for Veteran’s Preference. Scotts Bluff County is an EEO/AA employer.
