The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Blood and Marrow Transplant at University of Nebraska Medical Center and Children’s Nebraska, is seeking a fellowship-trained Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist with expertise in stem cell therapy to join an existing group of 17 practitioners (10 physicians and 7 NPs) to lead the Pediatric Blood & Marrow Transplant Program.
This is a unique opportunity to further grow our established program, with unlimited potential to advance a strong clinical and academic career in Pediatric Blood & Marrow Transplant. We are seeking a physician that is board certified in pediatric hematology/oncology with bone marrow transplantation advanced training and experience, outstanding clinical and leadership skills, and who can work well as a member of a team. Responsibilities include Director of the Pediatric Blood & Marrow Transplant clinical program including allo- auto- and CAR-T therapy, collaboration to maintain FACT accreditation, expanding therapeutic trials participation, inpatient and outpatient clinical care, education of medical students, residents and fellows, mentoring faculty, and development of scholarly professional activities. Funds to develop a research program in conjunction with the support and infrastructure of the Child Health Research Institute are available and dependent on the candidate’s research area and expertise.
The position offers the opportunity to engage in research through the Pediatric Cancer Research Group within the Child Health Research Institute. The Pediatric Cancer Research Group is a multidisciplinary team of over 80 scientists from diverse fields working to improve the outcomes of children diagnosed with cancer by combining the scientific infrastructure of the Fred and Pamela Buffet Cancer Center with the resources and clinical expertise of Children’s Nebraska and the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The overall emphasis of the program is to conduct translational and clinical research with the emphasis of moving innovative new therapies into the clinic as rapidly as possible. Intramural pilot funding is available to investigators in an attempt to allow for the collection of preliminary data for subsequent extramural funding submissions.
The team cares for pediatric patients at Nebraska Medicine and Children’s Nebraska. We are focused on extraordinary clinical care, education, clinical, basic science and translational research, and advocacy. Our institutions are members of COG, one of 70 NCI-designated cancer centers, and the only FACT-accredited pediatric blood and marrow transplant center in Nebraska.
